£20.00Parent and Child Pottery Painting Sessions in Leeds city centre
Exclusively run on Wed 30th Oct 1.30 - 4pm Come to the craftiest place in Leeds for our brand-new pottery painting sessions. Paint your choice of mug, plate, bowl, or tile with a design of your choosing using underglazes while you sit and chat with friends and family! At the exclusive price of £20 per person with no hidden costs or fees, drinks and refreshments provided, this is the perfect opportunity to socialize and craft in Leeds City Centre. Paint your pottery, leave it a week or two, and when you get a text or email notification that your pot has been glazed and fired, come and collect it from the Fabrication reserve shelf at any point during opening hours! Children must be supervised by an adult and though the adults do not have to paint they must stay upstairs with the child at all times. Max 3 children per adult. Workshops are recommended for children aged 5+ though younger children are welcomed with a hands on parent to help them. These courses will be run by Becky Walker of BBRT and supported by Katy Davies from Ceramic Rabbit. Becky has been making for as long as she can remember and currently sells mosaics and children’s clothes and accessories at Fabrication on Briggate. She loves to create and even though she sells broken glass and ceramics- she loves to paint pottery. Becky has been teaching for over 10 years and is excited to facilitate pottery painting sessions at the fantastic Fabrication Crafts! Katy is a talented ceramicist, and her craft has been passed down in her family for generations. She inherited her kiln from her grandmother, who was also a ceramicist, and Katy is excellent at hand building figurines. She is the behind-the-scenes expert on ceramics and will be helping glaze and fire the pieces you paint. This class will be held in Fabrication Leeds at 83 Briggate, Leeds, LS1 6LH (1) Facebook Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. £38.00Seasonal LINO PRINT 11.30 – 14.30 Sunday 17th November 2024 - Fabrication York. Lino print using seasonal botany as an inspiration: from designing and carving to inking and printing a lino block (A6 size) with Rachel Holborow of RK Wanderings printmaking - an experienced teacher, member of York Printmakers and York Open Studios artist. In this three hour workshop you will learn about the tools and materials of lino printmaking; designing and carving your own lino block - inspired by seasonal plant forms (you can bring an idea (A6 drawing, high contrast photo, or collage) of what you might like to print or materials will be provided ); then experiment with printing it using a range of colours, on paper or card. We will use water based inks, which are non-toxic and easy to clean up. There will be a maximum of 5 participants and you must be over 18 to take part. Be aware, you will use sharp tools at your own risk! (Safety tips will be covered at the beginning of the workshop and must be adhered to.) All materials for the workshop are included in the price, and you can take home the lino block you carve and your prints. Total cost for this 3 hour workshop is £38 which includes workshop materials, use of equipment and tuition + tea and biscuits. Shaun J Casey ArtRead moreShaun Casey is from Leeds, the Hyde Park Headingley area, he went to the Leeds Metropolitan University where he gained my BA ( Hons) degree in graphic arts and design, majoring in illustration, He's always had an interest in drawing but never pursued in his younger years due to helping bring up a young family. In 2011 he spent some of his spare time drawing the exhibits at the Royal Armouries in Leeds where his work was spotted by staff and an exhibition of his work at the Armouries ensued.This gave his confidence a lift and although it was stop start regarding drawing again, he picked up the pen once more in 2019 and started drawing animals in fine liner ink, he liked the control of the pen and the deep dark textures of the ink and before he knew it he started illustrating a book on WW1, he have completed 62 A3 ink drawings on this his wife Lesley-Jane writing the back stories.They are hoping to publish the book later this year, he hopes all that see my work will find it aesthetically pleasing, he's never really thought of myself as an artist but a craftsman with a pen.Free Entry daily, 10 - 5pm The exhibition space is situated on the first floor, accessibly via 2 flights of stairs, of the York Fabrication Retail space, 19 Coney St, York, YO1 9QL, within a 2 minute walk to buses and a 10 minute walk to car parks and to York Railway Station, surrounded by other independent shops, bars and restaurants and in the heart of York City Centre. It is a low and therapeutic embroidery process that strengthens your clothes while adding a decorative element. You can either bring along something to mend or we can provide all the materials so that you can learn this hand embroidery technique. Thanks to a grant from First Buses Fabrication Crafts on Coney Street have been running a number of free workshops showing participants how to upcycle, repair and enhance their clothing. Spooncarving - Knife Carving Workshop Sat 16th Sept 1.30 - 3.30pm Dave is an experienced woodcarver and has been running spooncarving sessions for the last 5yrs. The 2hr session is an introduction to spooncarving and covers the knife skills required to safely carve your first spoon. You'll be guided through the process as Dave shows you how to use the straight and bent knife whilst carving a prepared blank. Now you can make your own with this bookbinding and storytelling workshop at Fabrication Crafts. Join us for a joint workshop with Anachronalia and Steve Mackenzie at Fabrication Studios to make your own hardback book and then fill it with your very own ghost stories. The workshop begins by creating a hardback notebook with Anachronalia inspired by Victorian and Edwardian stationery. Suitable for complete beginners, all materials will be provided. After a break for lunch, the second half of our workshop will be led by storytelling master Steve Mackenzie. Stories surround us everyday, but someday when the darkness is falling and the veil is thin our minds start to find bits of light coming through, glimpses of that shadow in the corner, now is the time to write.. GHOST STORIES... Steve Mackenzie will help you explore the ghost story/folk horror landscape to find the story that wants you to write it. This workshop will be held on the first floor of Fabrication2 Hereford House, 6 Edward St, Leeds LS2 7NT, please note our main entrance door is on North Court. £70.00Working With Fabric - Making Cloth Covered Books - 16th June 2024 16th June 2024: 10:30-17:30 (with a break for lunch) £70 a head. Maximum 8 participants. Hot drinks included. Suitable for beginners but some previous craft or bookbinding experience is helpful. All tools and materials provided. A creative class looking at how to turn your fabric scraps into decorative book cloth. We'll spend the morning looking at possible fabrics, what to look out for when choosing your fabric, and different methods for lining them for covering. In the afternoon, we'll move on to covering some test boards with different types of fabric and finally covering a pre-prepared text block to create your own finished cloth covered book. All materials are provided but participants are welcome to bring their own fabrics to work with, if suitable.
