Christmas Candle Making Workshop in York city centre
Christmas Candle Making Workshop Dates: Sat 2nd Nov either 11 -1pm or 2 - 4pm Sun 1st Dec 11 - 1pm Sun 15th Dec 11 - 1pm Ideal for anyone new to candle making. You can enjoy learning how to make your own soy wax Christmas candles and tealights. Working at a relaxed pace and choosing from various Christmas aromas you will make 2 x tin container candles and a set of 6 tealights. These are yours to keep (once they've cured). Workshops are kept small to allow for individual attention, all materials, equipment and tuition are included in the price. On the day all you need to do is turn up and enjoy. Your tutor is Wendy, owner of York based business PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy has over 10 years experience of making candles and wax melts. After the workshop, Wendy will manage the curing and CLP labelling and your candles will be ready to collect from Fabrication York 1 week after the workshop. All the products you'll make are suitable for Vegans. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). The workshops last around 2 hours with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits. Please advise of allergen requirements at least 48 hours prior to the workshop. £40.00Jesmonite – Make a set of homewares Dates: Sat 5th Oct 10.30 - 12.30 Sat 9th Nov 10.30 - 12.30 During this 2-hour workshop you will be shown step by step, with demo’s, how to create a Jesmonite (non-toxic, eco-friendly, water-based resin) trinket tray, coaster and small pot using Terrazzo, Marbling & Block Colour techniques. You will have the chance to get creative with these techniques and various colours. At the end of the class, you will have made a pretty set of homewares and as jesmonite is quick to set you can take it straight home with you. £40 per person. All materials for each process are provided so just turn up and enjoy. No experience needed. You may wish to bring an apron if you want to keep your clothes clean, as it can sometimes be a messy process. Classes are limited to 6 people to allow support to be given where needed. Suitable for age 12+ under 16 to be accompanied by an adult. Your tutor is Wendy of PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy started to experiment with Jesmonite in 2023 and loves the fast-setting process and different techniques you can use. Wendy says, “you just never know what the finished effect is going to be until you decant your product, each piece is truly unique!” Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). £38.00LINO PRINT with Colour 11.30 – 14.30 Sunday 27th October 2024 - Fabrication York. Learn the basics of lino printing with Colour: from carving to inking to printing a lino block (A6 size) with Rachel Holborow of RK Wanderings printmaking - an experienced teacher, member of York Printmakers and York Open Studios artist. In this three hour workshop you will begin by learning about the tools and materials of lino printmaking; design and carve your own lino block (you can bring an idea (A6 drawing, high contrast photo, or collage) of what you might like to print); then experiment with printing it using either two colours with the jigsaw method or with a graduated ombre roll. We will use water based inks, which are non-toxic and easy to clean up. There will be a maximum of 5 participants and you must be over 18 to take part. Be aware, you will use sharp tools at your own risk! (Safety tips will be covered at the beginning of the workshop and must be adhered to.) All materials for the workshop are included in the price, and you can take home the lino block you carve and your prints. Total cost for this 3 hour workshop is £38 which includes workshop materials, use of equipment and tuition + tea and biscuits. Pottery Painting Sessions

Sat 7th Sept 1.30 - 4pm Sat 19th Oct 1.30 - 4pm Sat 2nd Nov 1.30 - 4pm Sat 14th Dec 1.30 - 4pm Come to the craftiest place in Leeds for our brand new pottery painting sessions. Paint your choice of mug, plate, bowl, or tile with a design of your choosing using underglazes while you sit and chat with friends and family! At £30 per person with no hidden costs or fees, drinks and refreshments provided, this is the perfect opportunity to socialize and craft in Leeds City Centre. Paint your pottery, leave it a week or two, and when you get a text or email notification that your pot has been glazed and fired, come and collect it from the Fabrication reserve shelf at any point during opening hours! Our Autumnal pottery painting sessions will be running once a month in the afternoon at 1:30-4:00. These courses will be run by Becky Walker of BBRT and supported by Katy Davies from Ceramic Rabbit. Becky has been making for as long as she can remember and currently sells mosaics and children’s clothes and accessories at Fabrication on Briggate. She loves to create and even though she sells broken glass and ceramics- she loves to paint pottery. Becky has been teaching for over 10 years and is excited to facilitate pottery painting sessions at the fantastic Fabrication Crafts! Katy is a talented ceramicist, and her craft has been passed down in her family for generations. She inherited her kiln from her grandmother, who was also a ceramicist, and Katy is excellent at hand building figurines. She is the behind-the-scenes expert on ceramics and will be helping glaze and fire the pieces you paint. The Bindery Ghost – Bookbinding and Storytelling Workshop -27th Oct 2024
Bookbinding Classes, Craft Classes & Workshops, Weekend Workshops27th October 2024 10:30-17:30 Max 8 participants (This class requires at least 4 participants to run) There is nothing better when the nights are drawing in, than reading ghost stories from a finely-bound book. Now you can make your own with this bookbinding and storytelling workshop at Fabrication Crafts. Join us for a joint workshop with Anachronalia and Steve Mackenzie at Fabrication Studios to make your own hardback book and then fill it with your very own ghost stories. The workshop begins by creating a hardback notebook with Anachronalia inspired by Victorian and Edwardian stationery. Suitable for complete beginners, all materials will be provided. After a break for lunch, the second half of our workshop will be led by storytelling master Steve Mackenzie. Stories surround us everyday, but someday when the darkness is falling and the veil is thin our minds start to find bits of light coming through, glimpses of that shadow in the corner, now is the time to write.. GHOST STORIES... Steve Mackenzie will help you explore the ghost story/folk horror landscape to find the story that wants you to write it. This workshop will be held on the first floor of Fabrication2 Hereford House, 6 Edward St, Leeds LS2 7NT, please note our main entrance door is on North Court. The workshop can get cold in the autumn and winter months so do bring an extra layer just in case. There will be hot drinks available throughout.
