Beginners Candle Making Workshop in York city centre
Saturday 8th Feb 11.30 - 1pm Sun 23rd Mar 11.30 - 1pm Sat 7th June 11.30 - 1pm Beginners Candle Making Workshop in York city centre. Ideal for anyone new to candle making. You can enjoy learning how to make your own soy wax candles and tealights. Working at a relaxed pace and choosing from various aromas you will make 2 x tin container candles and a set of 6 tealights. These are yours to keep (once they've cured). Workshops are kept small to allow for individual attention, all materials, equipment and tuition are included in the price. On the day all you need to do is turn up and enjoy. Your tutor is Wendy, owner of York based business PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy has over 13 years experience of making candles and wax melts. After the workshop, Wendy will manage the curing and finishing of your candles which will be ready to collect from Fabrication York 1 week after the workshop. All the products you'll make are suitable for Vegans. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). The workshops last around 1.5 hours with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits. Please advise of allergen requirements at least 48 hours prior to the workshop. Whether your tastes are more cottage core or dark academia, this class will take you through making a fabulous A6 notebook for you to take home. Includes a wide variety of fabrics and papers to choose from (and you are welcome to bring and include your own if suitable). This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS There are a number of eateries in York, but we recommend you bring a packed lunch or purchase a take-away meal as the break will be relatively short and York can get quite busy at lunchtimes. Based on a 3rd-Century book found in Egypt, come make your own leather notebook using historically appropriate methods. Made of leather, lined in papyrus, and tied shut with multiple ties, this rustic notebook is modelled after the Nag Hammadi Codices. Along the way learn more about the methods used to make this book and how & why they were made the way they are. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS Access: The class room area is accessed via the Fabrication shop and is located on the ground floor towards the back of the shop space. £40.00Jesmonite – Make a set of homewares 2025 Dates: Sat 8th Feb 2.30 - 4.30pm Sat 3rd May 2.30 - 4.30pm During this 2-hour workshop you will be shown step by step, with demo’s, how to create a Jesmonite (non-toxic, eco-friendly, water-based resin) trinket tray, coaster and small pot using Terrazzo, Marbling & Block Colour techniques. You will have the chance to get creative with these techniques and various colours. At the end of the class, you will have made a pretty set of homewares and as jesmonite is quick to set you can take it straight home with you. £40 per person. All materials for each process are provided so just turn up and enjoy. No experience needed. You may wish to bring an apron if you want to keep your clothes clean, as it can sometimes be a messy process. Classes are limited to 6 people to allow support to be given where needed. Suitable for age 12+ under 16 to be accompanied by an adult. Your tutor is Wendy of PQ Soy Wax Candles. Wendy started to experiment with Jesmonite in 2023 and loves the fast-setting process and different techniques you can use.
