We have a number of of craft classes in Leeds City Centre. Ranging from sewing & historical dressmaking course, through to bookbinding workshops. Also textile printing, bookbinding classes, jewellery making leatherwork and felting
There are cookery classes, crafty hen parties and outreach learning as well

Based on a 16th-Century book in the Vatican library, come make your own lay flat sketchbook, using only paper, card, needle, and thread. Along the way learn more about the types of books used by ordinary folk during the later medieval period for accounts, ledgers, and pocket notebooks. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. The class area is on the first floor accessed via 2 flights of stairs (can potentially be moved into the shop area by request). Maximum 8 participants. Hot drinks included. Suitable for beginners but some previous craft experience is helpful. All tools and materials provided. Whether your tastes are more cottage core or dark academia, this class will take you through making a fabulous A6 notebook for you to take home. Includes a wide variety of fabrics and papers to choose from (and you are welcome to bring and include your own if suitable). This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS There are a number of eateries in York, but we recommend you bring a packed lunch or purchase a take-away meal as the break will be relatively short and York can get quite busy at lunchtimes. Access: The class room area is accessed via the Fabrication shop and is located on the ground floor towards the back of the shop space. The shop has two steps up from the street. Inside there are a further two steps from the front of the shop to the back of the shop. Toilets are on the first floor accessed by 2 flights of stairs. Based on a 3rd-Century book found in Egypt, come make your own leather notebook using historically appropriate methods. Made of leather, lined in papyrus, and tied shut with multiple ties, this rustic notebook is modelled after the Nag Hammadi Codices. Along the way learn more about the methods used to make this book and how & why they were made the way they are. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 32 Stonegate YO1 8AS Access: The class room area is accessed via the Fabrication shop and is located on the ground floor towards the back of the shop space. All materials will be provided but participants are very welcome to bring their own paper to incorporate into their bindings if suitable. Create your very own tiny tome. Tomes can have jump rings added if you would like to turn your tome into a book themed necklace or brooch. A short fun class aimed at beginners. This class will be held in Fabrication York at 19 Coney St, York YO1 9QL Access: The Fabrication shop has level access to the street. £70.00Working With Fabric - Making Cloth Covered Books - 16th June 2024 16th June 2024: 10:30-17:30 (with a break for lunch) £70 a head. Maximum 8 participants. Hot drinks included. Suitable for beginners but some previous craft or bookbinding experience is helpful. All tools and materials provided. A creative class looking at how to turn your fabric scraps into decorative book cloth. We'll spend the morning looking at possible fabrics, what to look out for when choosing your fabric, and different methods for lining them for covering. In the afternoon, we'll move on to covering some test boards with different types of fabric and finally covering a pre-prepared text block to create your own finished cloth covered book. All materials are provided but participants are welcome to bring their own fabrics to work with, if suitable.
